  • see- complete crazyness.  Kids running all over the place, with little to no direction.  I also see a long hallway with tons of rooms.  I dont know were anything is or what anything is.  I see a bunch of kids looking at me but saying nothing, hanging me little rectangle boxes with pictures on it.  I see restraints going on.  Kids hitting and biting themselves.  Kids going after other kids.  I am at a lost.

  1. I would choice the first one.  I woud focus on seeing the kids for the first time and how they are actng and what they are doing.  I would focus on my hearing and seeing manily.  Everything else is not imprortuant. I would use close up images to show what the children are doing.

  1. I think that your connection with kids is really strong, and you have a passion for working with children with autism. What is it about children with autism do you want to put into your film? Are you targetting their daily activities? Or are you targetting your relationship with them? I think the idea of you using your hearing will be good especially if you need to keep the children confidential in the film. You could just use kind of some of their words that are frustrating at times or on the other hands when kids with autism find something that they enjoy and take pride in. Your idea of having close ups on the children are good too because it will be show them in their normal environments.

  2. Katrina–
The idea of using your own “first” experience could be really interesting because it shows how you’ve changed as a result of working with these kids. You’ve got a lot of important facts and figures, so how will you “humanize” these? How will you invite your viewer to discover something they didn’t already know about autism?

  3. I really like the picture that you have in your 7th blog; it says “Just because I can’t speak, doesn’t mean that I don’t have anything to say.” I really like that message about kids with autism. Communication is such an important part of our society, how do they communicate with you? How do you know them if they can’t really communicate? I think that would be interesting to show. I also liked it when you talked about your first time there. What you expected vs. what you got and the fact that you struck it out and loved it. It says a lot about you and your connection to these kids. I liked your first “see” in the list, the idea of complete craziness and kids just running everywhere…
